Experience
Customer Service Agent / Former Client Trainer
2021 – PresentI currently support vulnerable customers with their energy accounts — updating personal information, setting up payment plans, and resolving enquiries and complaints. It requires patience and empathy, and I've been able to make a genuine difference for people during difficult periods. Before this, I worked as a Client Trainer within the same company, which was one of the most rewarding aspects of my time there. I onboarded new team members from day one, developed training materials, and delivered sessions that prepared them to take on the role confidently. Seeing someone I trained develop into the position and achieve their targets is something I'm proud of.
Customer Service Agent (Outbound)
2020 – 2021In this outbound role I proactively contacted clients on behalf of the our client, gathered essential information, and provided guidance on next steps. The role required resilience and the ability to adapt my approach to different situations. I also took responsibility for supporting colleagues after challenging calls — a quick check-in or change of tone after a difficult conversation helped maintain team morale, and I became a point of contact for colleagues who needed to decompress.
Assistant Store Manager
2020I supported the Store Manager with day-to-day operations, trained and managed team members, and ensured we met our targets while maintaining a high standard of customer service. I held key holder responsibilities — opening and closing the store, conducting security checks, and reporting faults — which gave me a strong sense of accountability. The environment was fast-paced, but I performed well under pressure and learned to prioritise effectively.
Hotel/Restaurant Manager
2019 – 2020I managed the daily operations of this hotel and restaurant, leading and coordinating teams to deliver a high standard of service. From front-of-house management to kitchen operations during peak periods, I was hands-on across all areas. I implemented service standards that raised the quality of the guest experience, and I ensured effective communication between departments to maintain consistency. Maintaining quality control and reputation required discipline, but I'm proud of the standards we achieved.
Cinema Customer Assistant / Theatre Technician
2017 – 2018This role combined customer service with live event technical support. On the service side, I sold tickets, served refreshments, guided patrons, and maintained a clean environment. The technical aspect involved supporting clients with lighting, sound, and audiovisual equipment for screenings and events. I found satisfaction in ensuring events ran smoothly and the technical delivery met expectations.
Customer Assistant
2017Working in a busy high street store, I assisted customers in selecting appropriate footwear and accessories — a task that requires patience and product knowledge, particularly during busy periods. I expanded my understanding of product care techniques and maintained well-stocked, visually appealing displays. The role developed my ability to read customers quickly and match them with suitable products.
Front Line Agent
2016 – 2017This was a debt collection role that required professionalism and empathy in equal measure. I served a diverse range of clients, maintaining a respectful approach on every call. I addressed enquiries, resolved issues, and worked with individuals to establish realistic payment plans. The position reinforced the importance of handling sensitive conversations with care.
Customer Assistant
2011 – 2016I spent five years at Tesco, which provided a strong foundation in customer service. I served customers in a fast-paced supermarket environment, handled stock rotation, supported the warehouse team with deliveries, and maintained clean, well-stocked aisles. I worked as part of a team to achieve sales targets and found the experience rewarding.
Venue Technician
2007 – 2010This was my first technical role, and it established the foundation for my career in live events. I managed lighting, sound, and AV equipment for clients leasing the theatre, Royal Hall, and conference rooms. I oversaw events from conception to completion — designing lighting layouts, programming and operating equipment, managing rigging and de-rigging, and ensuring compliance with health and safety. The variety was considerable: one day setting up for a conference, the next running lighting for a live performance. It taught me to think on my feet, remain calm under pressure, and always have contingency plans.
